Students Record Impressive Progress in School Vegetable Farm
8-7-2026
The Agricultural Science students of Kith & Kin International College (KKIC) continue to make remarkable progress in their hands-on farming project under the Lagos State Agricultural Scholars Programme.
Now in the ninth week of cultivation, the students have successfully managed a variety of vegetable crops, including Cobra F1 tomatoes, Celosia (Soko), Ewedu, and Ugwu. Through regular weeding, fertilizer application, staking, irrigation, pest monitoring, and crop maintenance, the farm has developed into a thriving demonstration of practical agriculture.
The project has already yielded successful harvests of Soko (Celosia), Ewedu, and Ugwu, with produce sold as part of the students' agribusiness learning experience. The tomato crop has also entered its harvesting stage, with healthy fruit production across the beds.
Beyond crop production, the project equips students with valuable skills in farm planning, record keeping, teamwork, environmental stewardship, and entrepreneurship—bridging classroom learning with real-life agricultural practice.
As preparations continue for the upcoming assessment and award presentation, the school remains committed to nurturing future agricultural leaders through practical, innovative, and sustainable farming.
